Description

Scaletrains SXT32328 Thrall-Trinity 42' Coil Steel Car CIGX - ex-CP Patch #803016 HO Scale. Photos may show a different road number.

Introduced in the mid-1990s, Thrall’s updated 42’ coil car design featured a single hood and longitudinal loading trough with load dividers. Designed to handle wrapped “cold rolled” steel coils, these cars are equipped with insulated hoods to help protect the delicate finished steel from the elements.

In the mid-1990’s, Thrall Car Manufacturing introduced their 42’ coil car. This car shared many traits common to other Thrall built coil steel cars including the basic body construction and jack pad design. The two major differences were the shorter car length and use of a single hood instead of two.

In 2001, Trinity purchased Thrall Car Manufacturing and continued building the 42’ Coil Car until 2012. Trinity relocated the end handrails from the ends of the hood to the ends of the car.

These cars are often seen in singles or small groups roaming North America.

Our Rivet Counter series model features three (3) different body types and six (6) removable hood versions. Each car is comprised of more than 130 factory-applied parts. Coil steel loads are included.
