Originally built for laying larger pipelines, the versatility and ability to get into tight spots has made the side boom pipelayer crane a favorite for cleaning up railroad derailments and wrecks. Like the prototype, it's designed to mount on a crawler tractor (247-7070). This highly detailed kit includes demountable weight plates, a weight box that can be extended in or out via hydraulic cylinders, a positionable boom that can be raised or lowered, plus the hook and block can be raised or lowered via a windable cable drum using a flat blade screwdriver.
